The secret is out. Search engine giant, Google, and Bing have confirmed that social participation and social rank play an important role in their ranking algorithm.
SEO experts knew it. And so did the internet marketing folks. The disclosure only confirmed their belief that social media links were important for their clients website. Social ranks, authority of the user and the quality of the tweets have become popular buzzwords in the corridors of any internet marketing company.
So what are social links?
A typical example would be Twitter, one of the top three social networking and micro blogging platform. As a user, you need to build a powerful presence. In simple terms it means, you need to post tweets and create a chain of influential followers who tweet and re-tweet your content. This process is quite similar to building back links. Instead of building links you create content which is Liked and Tweeted.
This content could be videos, text matter, WebPages, articles, downloadable PDF files; anything which people like and give their thumbs up signal in the form of re-tweets.
Social media management firms harness their talent and energies on social authority users to help increase their website rank by asking people to Re-tweet or Like a particular page.
In the past online marketers depended heavily on creating keyword rich content to find a better search ranking? Even keyword density and location made a big difference in the content’s overall raking. Now, instead of keyword manipulation, SEO folks have shifted their focus on people’s approval; that is, share and tweet.
Social links are like Back Links. Traditional back links still play an important part in a websites success, which is gradually being taken over by Re-tweets, Sharing and “Like” factors.
As search engines evolve and become more intelligent the onus lies on SEO folks to maintain a firm grip on search engine algorithms. This will allow them to optimise their clients website accordingly; to find top position in a search results page.
